A message of thanks from CEO Dougie Sutherland to Cory colleagues
Taking time to say thank you
I would like to thank Rebecca Pow (Recycling and Resources Minister) for taking the time to write a thank you letter to the waste industry this week.
Workers in the waste sector may not get the headlines that other workers do during this challenging time, but I want you to know that you are not forgotten within Government. I am enormously grateful for all you are doing, and will continue to do, and proud of your commitment to the services you provide. Thank you
You can read the letter in full here.
While we are locked down, our communities continue to recycle and continue to create waste. They need our industry to pick it up, recycle it, process it, and dispose of it. Now, more than ever, everyone is becoming more aware of all those critical workers that keep turning up on the front line at personal risk to themselves, including those that pick up and process their recycling and waste.
Thank you to all of my Cory colleagues who keep turning up to work along the River Thames where we process our communities’ recycling, manage London’s residual waste, and then transport it on the River Thames to Belvedere where we process the waste to generate electricity to keep London’s lights on. Your efforts are not going unnoticed or unappreciated, indeed they’re getting noticed at the highest levels of Government, by our clients and by householders.
I will follow the Minister’s lead and leave a thank you note for the guys that pick up my household waste (Thank you Serco!)
Thank you.
