Cory’s Tess Bridgman named Lawyer of the Year 2019
We are delighted that Cory’s General Counsel Tess Bridgman has won General Counsel of the Year at the 2019 Lawyer Awards, topping off an incredible three years at Cory Riverside Energy. A trusted adviser to the Board, CEO, the senior management team and the whole company, Tess has taken a key leadership role in influencing the strategy and direction of the company.
Tess has led the transition of the Cory legal team from a siloed structure to one where each member supports across the business. Consequently, her legal team is an intrinsic part of Cory’s operations and are recognised throughout the company as creative leaders of change.
She is a standout champion for diversity and equality, imbued with a keen sense of justice and fairness, and her leadership on the company’s first annual Sustainability Report was highly valued. She continues to provide a valuable input to all areas of the business, going above and beyond what’s expected of a typical General Counsel.
Tess Bridgman said,
Winning the General Counsel of the Year award means a lot to me. When I joined, the company was undergoing huge change and was undertaking multiple complex transactions simultaneously. With no prior GC experience, I was really thrown in the deep end and am so proud to have come out the other side with this award. This is not something I could have done, however, without the incredible wisdom, support and challenge that I received from my colleagues and advisers.
Commenting on her award, Cory CEO Dougie Sutherland, said
Tess has performed a role far beyond that of a traditional legal counsel, with her leadership across the legal team and wider business highly valued. Everyone at Cory congratulates Tess on this huge achievement, which is well deserved. I look forward to working with Tess in the years to come.
