Cory welcomes 58 local residents to open day
As part of Cory’s ongoing programme to keep our neighbours and local community updated, we recently hosted two open days for local residents on the 21st and 22nd August at our state-of-the-art energy from waste facility in Bexley. All visitors were able to take a full tour of our facility on the banks of the Thames and find out how we turn London’s litter into London’s light. We welcomed 58 people across the two days.
Attendees had the chance to see the full process of turning waste into energy, starting with offloading residual waste from the barges that have carried it down the Thames, right the way through to the ash that is then shipped across the river to Tilbury where it is turned into aggregate for the construction industry once all metals have been recovered and recycled.
We’re incredibly proud of our facility and were delighted to give our local community the opportunity to go behind the scenes and see the process that powers their homes.
Providing open days is just one way in which we keep residents up to date on our operations. We also recently sponsored the Bexley eco-festival where residents could buy eco-friendly products as well as find out about local wellbeing community groups and volunteering opportunities.
